Billy Ray Lookabill, 72 of Cerro Gordo went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6 at his home. He was born in Lexington, NC to the late Early Jacob Lookabill and Lillie Peacock Lookabill. He was a retired maintenance supervisor with the Mullins School District and a part-time employee with Meares Funeral Home. He was an active member of Cerro Gordo Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was also a member of the church choir. He was preceded in death by Sisters, Pearl Owen Currie, Exie Lookabill Williams; Brothers, Glen Lookabill, Johnny Lookabill, Gilbert Lookabill, Jacob Early Lookabill Funeral services will be held at 3 Pm Wednesday July 8, 2009 at Spring Branch Baptist Church,Nichols SC. Rev. Bobby Mowery will officiate, burial will follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife Joyce Green Nance Lookabill of the home. Daughter, Freida Lookabill Varela of Nichols, SC. Son, Billy Randolph Lookabill of Nichols, SC. Stepdaughter,Wendy Nance Turbeville of Cerro Gordo NC. Stepson, Christopher Donald Nance of Rocky Point, NC. 2 sisters, Minnie Lookabill Ferguson of Lexington NC, Helen Lookabill Meachum of McLeansville NC. 3 Grandsons, 2 Grandaughters, 3 Step Grandsons, 1 Step Grandaughter, 1 Step Great Grandaughter. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice P O Box 636 Whiteville NC 28472. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 PM Tuesday July 7, 2009 at the funeral home. Pall bearers will be deacons of Cerro Gordo Baptist Church.
