Carolyn Phillips

Fair Bluff, NC – Carolyn G. Phillips, age 88, of Fair Bluff, NC, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at Shoreland Health Care & Retirement Center in Whiteville, NC, surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late David H. Gasque Sr. and Ruby Price Gasque.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Phillips; her brother, David H. Gasque Jr.; and her sister, Hilda Gasque Dean.

Surviving Carolyn are her sister, Ida Gray McPherson (David) of the Beaverdam Community; her stepson, John W. Phillips (Ann) of Fair Bluff, NC; and several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is also survived by her dedicated friend, Tamela “Sue” Harrelson (Keith) of Cerro Gordo, NC.

Carolyn loved deeply and with great passion. Her dedication to her family, Fair Bluff Ford dealership, being Bill Elliott’s greatest fan, and her love of world travel filled her heart completely.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice and the staff of Shoreland Health Care & Retirement Center for their compassionate care and support during Carolyn’s illness.

A time of visitation will be held in the Meares & Jones Funeral Service in Fair Bluff, NC, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 3 PM until 4PM. 

Burial will be private.
