Clarence H. "Doc" Cannady, 81 of Fair Bluff died Saturday August 20, 2011 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Whitevile. Mr. Cannady was born in Harnett County a son of the late James Robert and Myrtle Warren Cannady. Mr. Cannady was an educator. He began his teaching career in Dunn NC and later taught for many years at Fayetteville Technical Institute ( now Fayetteville Technical Community College). He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and received his Masters Degree from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Cannady was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Ann Grainger Cannady. A Memorial service will be held at 11 AM Friday August 26, 2011at Spring Branch Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 10 until 11 AM. Surviving are his son, James Michael Cannady and his wife Melissa of Fair Bluff; his daughter, Edith Ann Cannady and her husband Michael Smith of Raleigh; a brother, Robert Cannady of Dunn; 2 sisters, Edith Porter of Wilmington and Myrt Smith of Richardson Texas; and 4 grandchildren, Danielle Ashley Cannady, Lissa Michelle Cannady, Samuel Taylor Smith and Michael Oliver Smith.
