Doris (Waddell) Wright

Mrs. Doris Waddell Wright, 91, of Elon passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. 

She was born in Fair Bluff, NC on December 10, 1926 to Charles E. Waddell and Gussie W. Waddell, both deceased.  She was preceded in death on February 9, 2018 by her beloved husband, Millis Barnes Wright of 71 years.  She is survived by her son, Michael Keith Wright and wife Mary Ann Wright of Mt. Olive, NC; and grandson, Benjamin Keith Wright and wife Stephanie of Austin, TX; special friend, Louise Wilson; several nieces and nephews; and three special angels, Mark and Anita Beaber and Jane Carroll. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Alan Wright; four sisters, Lois Waddell, Clara B. Waddell, Sara Pate and Grace Wright; and two brothers, Joe Waddell and Jamie Waddell. 

She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Graham, N.C. having served as a Sunday School Teacher and was in the choir for many years.  She loved flowers, especially roses, enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and baking cakes and pies.  She was an accountant, teacher and secretary. 

Services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church, 224 North Main Street, Graham, NC on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Travis Russell. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will be at Powell Cemetery in Fair Bluff, NC on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
