Shirley Elois Cartrette, 70 of Fair Bluff died Monday August 4, 2014. Mrs. Cartrette was born in Columbus County October 11, 1943.

 She was proceeded in death by her father William Thompson and a grandson Lance Corporal Floyd Greg Cartrette II, USMC.

 Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Thursday August 7, 2014 at Meares Funeral Home, Dr. Ray Lundy will officiating, and burial will follow in the Powell Cemetery.

 Surviving are her daughter Tammy Sue Cartrette of Fair Bluff, a son, Floyd Greg Cartrette of Wilmington; her mother, Mildred Thompson of Whiteville; 3 brothers, Joseph Thompson of Whiteville, Harvey Thompson of Clarkton, Roger Thompson of Whiteville; 2 sisters, Ann Edwards of Whiteville, Faye Wilkes of Ocean Isle Beach; 2 grandchildren, Jeri Ann Cartrette of Whiteville, Houston Chandler Cartrette of Fair Bluff; a great grandchild, Isaiah Cartrette and her longtime companion, Frank Horne.

 The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 PM Wednesday August 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
