Elsie Strickland Waddell, 86 of Fair Bluff died Friday June 11, 2010 at Liberty Commons of Whiteville. Mrs. Waddell was a native of Horry County and was a graduate of Limestone College. She began her teaching career in Georgetown County, SC, coming to Fair Bluff as a teacher in 1948. Mrs. Waddell taught in the Columbus County School System until her retirement. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Fair Bluff Baptist Church, Dr. Ray Lundy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Powell Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Schley W. Waddell of the home; 3 sons, Kenneth Neil Waddell and his wife Susan of Chadbourn, Kevin W. Waddell of the home, Dewey Craig Waddell and his wife Brenda of Wilmington; a daughter, Lou Ann Waddell and her husband William McCalla of Raleigh; a sister, Annette Jones and her husband Roland of Mt. Pleasant SC; 4 grandchildren, Taylor Waddell, Brittany Waddell , Austin Waddell and Westin Waddell. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM Sunday June 13 at The Christian Life Center of Fair Bluff Baptist Church.
