Grover S. Edwards, 76 of the Cherry Grove community died Wednesday April 4, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Edwards born in Columbus County the son of the late Albert Wadus and Susie Anna Strickland Edwards. He was a retired insurance agent with the former Charlotte Liberty Insurance Company. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his first wife Doris W. Edwards and a granddaughter Bobbie Jo Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday April 6, 2012 at Cherry Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Josh Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Betty H. Edwards of Wendell ; 3 sons, Bobby Edwards of Tabor City, Kent Edwards of Cary, Ricky Edwards of Ft. Myers, FL.; 4 daughters, Lynn Strickland of Cerro Gordo, Patricia Turner of Chadbourn, Renee Sparks of Zebulon, Lisa Gerald of Chadbourn; a sister, Mae Morgan of Asheville; 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday April 5, 2012 at Meares Funeral Home, Fair Bluff. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Cherry Grove Baptist Church, 9833 Swamp Fox Hwy West, Fair Bluff NC 28430
