Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Herbert Hoover Hinson, 80 of Fair Bluff died Saturday November 21 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hinson was born in Fair Bluff a son of the late A. Curtis and Cleora Morris Hinson. He was a member of Fair Bluff Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife Sadie Herring Hinson, a brother Curtis Hinson, Jr; 2 sisters, Frances Hinson Watts and Jean Hinson. Following his retirement from the navy Mr. Hinson owned and operated Fair Bluff Ceramic Distributorship for many years. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday November 24, 2009 at Fair Bluff Baptist Church, Dr. Ray Lundy will officiate. Burial with full military honors, will be in the Powell Cemetery. Surviving are his children: Herbert Richard "Ricky" Hinson and his wife Linda of New Bern, Joey Hinson and his wife Shandra of Fair Bluff and Patty Marie Hinson of North Myrtle Beach, SC. 2 brothers, H.O. Hinson of Conway and George Hinson of Stanley; 3 sisters, Marian Caudell of Baldwin GA, Gayle Bullard of Fair Bluff and Lydia Hinson of Cerro Gordo. 6 Grandchildren & 4 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Monday November 23 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
