Herbert Taft Wilson, 90 of 1055 Ice Plant Road, died Wednesday March 25, 2009 at his home. Mr. Wilson was born August 6, 1918 a son of the late Kenneth McRoy and Minta Ivey Wilson. He was a retired automotive mechanic of 42 years , a plumber and handy man. Mr. Wilson loved to grow vegetables and give them to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Connor Wilson; a son, Bobby J. Wilson; 3 brothers, Henry Wilson, Hubert Wilson and Duffie Wilson and a granddaughter Brandi C. Tew. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday, March 27, 2009 at Porter Swamp Baptist Church, Rev. Tim Moore & Rev. Neill Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the Porter Swamp Cemetery. Surviving are 2 daughters, Betty W. Brock and her husband Willard of Fayetteville, and Carolyn W. Stone of Lumberton; 3 sons, Kenny Wilson and his wife Barbara of Cerro Gordo, Robert Gary Wilson of the home and Jimmy D. Wilson and his wife Gayle of Cerro Gordo; a sister, Gladys W. Hayes of Fair Bluff; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday March 26, 2009 from 7 until 9 PM at the funeral home.
