Hubert Hilbourn, 89 of Fair Bluff passed away Saturday August 21, 2010 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. Mr. Hilbourn was born in Columbus County the son of the late Johnny and Leatha Edwards Hilbourn. He owned and operated Hilbourn's Grocery until his retirement. Mr. Hilbourn was preceded in death by his wife Ruby R. Hilbourn and a daughter Judy Williamson . Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday August 24 at Meares Funeral Home, Rev Perry Cribbs will officiate. Burial will follow in the Powell Cemetery. Surviving are 2 sons, Jerry Neal Hilbourn of Advance, John Douglas Hilbourn of Fair Bluff; 2 daughters, Betty Carol Brooks of Conway SC, Marie Black of Fair Bluff; 4 sisters, Martha Lou Elliott of Green Sea SC, Mary Britt , Rebecca Burch and Reba Nobles all of Lexington; 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Monday August 23, 2010.
