J.M. Hayes, 75 of Fayetteville died Tuesday January 11, 2011 at Loris Healthcare System in Loris SC. Mr. Hayes was born in Columbus County a son of the late, Lonzie and Orlean Strickland Hayes. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for 20 years retiring as a Sergeant First Class. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM, Saturday January 15, 2011 at Meares Funeral Home, Fair Bluff. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Strickland Cemetery in the Cherry Grove Community. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Surviving are his wife, Liliane S. Hayes of the home; 2 sons, Jimmy Hayes and Daniel T. Hayes both of Fayetteville; 2 brothers, Norman Hayes of Brunswick, GA ; Clemson Hayes of Cerro Gordo; 2 sisters, Lillie Marie Fritts of Lexington and Jill Couch of Fuquay Varina; and 4 grandchildren, Daniel T. Hayes, Jr.,Jimmy Michael Hayes, Matthew Phillip Hayes,and Lisa Marie Hayes.
