James Henry McAlister, 93 of formerly of Cerro Gordo died Tuesday April 14, 2015.

Mr. McAlister was born in Columbus County, a son of the late William A. and Blanche Jones McAlister. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a retired builder. Mr. McAlister was a member of Cerro Gordo Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Nance McAlister, 4 sisters, Pauline Cheek, Kathleen Nance, Louise Harrellson, Thelma Nance; 3 brothers, Flake McAlister, J.D. McAlister and Mac McAlister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Cerro Gordo Baptist Church, burial will follow in the Piney Forest Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM in the sanctuary of the church.

Mr. McAlister is survived by his daughter, Nancy M. Lineberger and her husband Todd of Raleigh, and 3 grandchildren Benson, Sophia, and Lauren.
