Josh Powell, 16 of Cerro Gordo died Tuesday September 25, 2012.

Josh was born in Columbus County June 28, 1996. He was a member of Hinson’ Crossroads Baptist Church where he was active in the youth group. He was a Junior at West Columbus High School and played offensive guard on the Vikings varsity football team. Josh loved music of all types and was a friend to everyone he met.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday September 28, 2012 at Hinson’s Crossroads Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Hammond Family Cemetery.

Surviving are: his father, Jimmy Powell of Cornelius; 3 brothers, Jackson Packett and Tyler Packett of Cornelius, Jamie Arant of South Carolina, a sister,Haley Arant of South Carolina ; his grandparents, John and Bonnie Meares of Cerro Gordo; aunts and uncles, Kevin and Terri Hood, Elec Powell, Alice Meares, Bob and Dot Morgan, Helen and Dane Hammond, Linda and Mike Bookhout, Peggy Powell and Frank Powell; a cousin, Betty Ramirez. He is also survived by Billy, S.C., Slade and Edward Meares.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 PM Thursday September 27, 2012 at the funeral home.
