Julia Louise "Bugsy" Waddell Nales passed away in her McGee's Crossroads home on Thursday, April 16. She was born May 5, 1958 to Frances Ayres Waddell and the late Aubrey June Waddell, Jr. of Fair Bluff, NC. She leaves to mourn her passing, husband of 28 years, Jack Allen Nales; daughter, Rachel Juliana Nales of the home; and a son Robert Allen Nales of the home; mother, Frances Ayres Waddell of Fair Bluff, NC and Lake View, SC; sister, Helen Ayres Waddell Nygaard and husband, Grant, and nephew, Tanner, of Rowland; an aunt, Martha Joyce of Raleigh, 4 first cousins and many friends. She was a 1976 graduate of West Columbus High School and a 1980 graduate of Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science in Science Education. Julia loved teaching, especially Chemistry. She taught at Smithfield - Selma Senior HS, South Johnston HS, Cleveland MS and most recently chemistry at West Johnston HS. She enjoyed seeing her students learn and get excited about science. It was always her hope that at least one student in each class pursued a degree in a scientific field. While home with her young children, she served on PTA committees at Cleveland Elementary and was vice-president of McGee's Crossroads Elementary School when the school opened. She took great pride in her community and its school. She and her family wish to thank all of the many friends who prepared meals for their family, took her children places, called and talked with her, prayed for and with her, and helped to supply her family's many needs. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 18 at 6 PM at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Hwy 50, Garner, NC with Rev. Leonard Rex officiating. Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 19 AT 3 PM at Powell Cemetery, Fair Bluff, NC conducted by Dr. Ray Lundy and Dr. Floyd Enzor.
