Junior Wilson, 74 of Cerro Gordo died Saturday at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the US Army and was a retired farmer. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at Meares Funeral Home, Rev. Elmore Strickland will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Lucille "Pam" Strickland Wilson of the home; a son. Jasper Wilson of Cerro Gordo; 4 brothers, Lacy Wilson of Whiteville, Tracy Wilson of Cerro Gordo, Joseph "Crockett" Wilson of Cerro Gordo, George Barnes of California; 5 sisters, Deliah Parrott of Mt. Pleasant SC, Marie Arnette of Smithfield VA, Alease Barnes of Las Vegas NV, Amelda Wilson of Arlington VA, and Linda Lou Stevens of Leland. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday November 30 at the funeral home.
