Mr. L.V. Reel, age 89, died Friday, May 6, 2016, in the Columbus Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness. Born November 23, 1926 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late James Hunter Reel and Alma Hinson Reel and the widower of Ruth Lovett Reel.

He is survived by a son: Michael (Judith) Reel of Bossier City, LA.; sisters Annie Mae Hammond of Fair Bluff: Fannie Lou Cribb (Harold) of Fair Bluff: and Judy Marks (Lazell) of Rockingham, N.C.: 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by children: Joy Reel, Stanley Reel, and Carol Reel.

Mr. Reel was a retired Veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII. He was the long time parts manager of Scott Chevrolet in Fair Bluff. Mr. Reel was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a long time volunteer firefighter, and loved to fish and mow grass.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 from 6 PM-8 PM in the Meares Funeral Home of Fair Bluff.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Hinson's Crossroads Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Meares Cemetery, Fair Bluff.
