Lena Lou Dixon Hammond passed peacefully June 24, 2015. She was born October 15, 1926 in South Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was one of five children of Lester and Millie Dixon. Lena married the love of her life, Luther (Mike) Hammond on November 23, 1943. They lived in South Carolina, California and and settled in Texas for 38 years before moving to Tahlequah, Oklahoma. They had a son, Dr. Michael Hammond and a stillborn daughter Vicky Sue.

Lena loved her family. She was very proud to be the sister of Bill, Red, Jean and Sue. The pride of her life was her son, Michael and his wife Gloria. Her grandchildren brought so much joy to her life. She collected state quarters for all of the great grandchildren.

 She had a knack for numbers. She knew all of her relative's birthdays, she kept books and collected coins. She was a homemaker as well as a business owner. Lena enjoyed sewing quilts, cross-stitching, reading, fishing and working on word puzzles.

She was the beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter and friend that all will miss and treasure.
