Lucille Herring Brown, 81 of Chadbourn died Tuesday September 1, 2015 at The Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

Mrs. Brown was born in Robeson County, a daughter of the late Wallace and Hulda Sparkman Herring. She had worked at the Evergreen School Cafeteria and in the West Columbus High School Economics Department. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Clemmons Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday September 4, 2015 at Williamson’s Crossroads Baptist Church, burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are her son, Jimmy Brown and his wife Marie of Chadbourn; her daughters, Linda Hilbourn of Chadbourn and Dale Hammonds and her husband Jerry of Evergreen; her sisters, Fodie Byrd and Hope Martin both of Lumberton; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Thursday September 3, 2015 at Meares Funeral Home in Fair Bluff.
