Luther James Meares, 74 of Fair Bluff died Wednesday, April 9 2008. Mr. Meares was born in Columbus County, a son of the late James Roland and Ethel Sealey Meares. He was a member of Hinson's Crossroads Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army. Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday April 12, 2008 at Hinson's Crossroads Baptist Church, Rev. Tim Swaringen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Meares Cemetery. Surviving are 2 daughters, Norma M. Rabon of Evergreen and Amy Meares of Lumberton; a son, Darrell Meares of Fair Bluff; 2 brothers, Russell Meares of Fair Bluff, and Ralph Meares of Tabor City; a sister Kathleen Duncan of Matthews; 10 grandchildren, Karlie Meares, Haley Meares, Kaytlyn Meares, Kaylee Meares, Ryan Rabon, Blair Rabon, Clarissa Meares, Glivia Meares, Martin Williams, Christopher Williams and 2 great grandchildren Gracelynn Rabon and Aliyah Brown. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 PM Friday at Meares Funeral Home , Fair Bluff.
