Margaret Ellis “Maggie” Herring, 82, died Wednesday July 16, 2014 at Columbus Regional Healthcare in Whiteville.

Mrs. Herring was born September 6, 1931 in Columbus County, a daughter of the late William Collie and Bertice Bullard Ellis. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald K. Herring and 2 brothers, W.C. Ellis, Jr. and Johnny D. Ellis.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday July 20, 2014 at the Fair Bluff Church of God, Pastor Charles Dudley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Powell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the service.

Surviving are, her husband of 63 years, Simon Herring of the home; a son, William Gerald Herring and his wife April of Hubert NC; a daughter, Jeanne H. Britt and her husband Johnny of Whiteville; her daughter in law, Becky G. Herring of Little River SC; 4 grandchildren, Ashley B. Memory, Lindsey H. Willis, Jonathan S. Britt, Amber H. Adelman; and 3 great grandchildren, Will Memory, Maggie Memory and Michael Herring.

“She was a Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, but more importantly she was a daughter of God with an unparalleled faith in the power of prayer.”
