Martha S. "Marty" Rowell, of Sidney Cherry Grove Road, Tabor City died Saturday April 17, 2009 at her home. "Marty" was a voice and piano coach and teacher. She was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church, where she also served as the organist. She was active in several local pageants and festivals. Marty was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Rowell who died March 18th of this year. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Tuesday April 20, 2010 at Cherry Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Josh Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Elliott and his girlfriend Beverly Benton of Tabor City, Brandon Channing Elliott and his wife Lori of Tampa Florida; 2 grandchildren, Skylor Elliott and Hunter Elliott; her dogs, Peanut Butter, Charlie and Cassie; a special friend, Lora Kay Strickland and her family. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday April 19, 2010 at the funeral home.
