Mary Elizabeth Hammond Conner, 82 of Fair Bluff died Monday November 21, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. Mrs. Conner was born in Columbus County, a daughter of the late Edgar Bruce and Ruby Thompson Hammond. Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years H.W. Conner and a daughter Debbie Bowen. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday November 25, 2011 at Porter Swamp Baptist Church, Rev. Tim Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in the Conner Cemetery. Surviving are 3 sons, Gene Conner of Southport, Danny Conner of Whiteville, Henry "Junior" Conner of Wilmington; 2 daughters, Sue Nobles of Fair Bluff, Elizabeth 'Libby" Skipper of Whiteville; 2 brothers, Edgar "Buddy" Hammond of Charlottesville VA., James Lamar Hammond of Tabor City; 3 sisters, Pearl Johnson of Fair Bluff, Evelyn Benton of Virginia Beach VA, Shelia Fields of Iron Station; 13 grandchildren & 13 great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday November 25 2011 from 1 until 2 PM at Porter Swamp Baptist Church.
