Mattie Lee Nance, 81 of Cerro Gordo passed away at home, early Saturday Morning following an extended illness. Mrs. Nance was born in Columbus County a daughter of the late Shafter Lee and Wilminia Nance Hammond. She was a member of Cerro Gordo Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband Howard Nance. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday at Cerro Gordo Baptist Church, Rev. Tim Moore and Rev. Mark Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the Powell Cemetery, Fair Bluff. Mrs. Nance is survived by a son, Tony Nance and his wife Dana of Cerro Gordo; a daughter, Priscilla N. Williamson, wife of the late Donald Williamson of Cerro Gordo; a brother, Sonny Nance and his wife Jean Arthur of Cerro Gordo; 5 Grandchildren, Matthew Nance, Brandon Nance, Taylor Williamson, Kristy Strickland, and Chelsea Guyton; 4 Great Grandchildren, Rylee Nance, Reagan Nance, Landri Strickland, Chloe Strickland The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service and at other times at Mrs. Nance's home, 7044 Andrew Jackson Highway SW, Cerro Gordo NC .
