Michael Von Strickland, Jr. 60 of Cerro Gordo died Thursday April 17, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Strickland was born April 25, 1953 in Horry County SC, a son of the late Michael Von and Katie Mae Strickland. He was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver and farmer. He was a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard.

The family will receive friends Saturday April 19 from 4 PM until 6 PM at the church.

Funeral services will be held at 6 PM Saturday April 19, 2014 at Cherry Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Josh Phillips and Rev. Charles Dudley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Elnita Lee Strickland of the home; a son, Michael Von Strickland III and his wife Michaela of Cerro Gordo; a daughter, Melody Marie Clayton and her husband Alex of Garner; a step daughter, Kimberly Parker and her husband Brad of Nakina; 2 sisters, Judith Ward and Alice Faye Soles both of Chadbourn; grandchildren, Katie Magalena Strickland, Chiara-Marie J. Strickland, Lenya Melody Strickland and RaeAnna Parker.
