Mickey R. Smith,59 of Cerro Gordo won her long battle with cancer August 21, 2011. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had worked as a substitute school teacher. She was a member of Porter Swamp Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday August 24, 2011 at Porter Swamp Baptist Church, Rev. Tim Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Gayle Smith of the home; 2 sons, Shannon Smith of Charlotte, Jamie Smith of Delway; a brother, Danny Nealy of Tabor City: a sister, Susan Wright of Tabor City and 3 grandchildren, Haley Smith, Seth Smith, and Chance Smith. The family will receive friends Tuesday 08/23/2011 from 7 until 9 PM at the funeral home.
