Nina Buffkin Strickland, 93 wife of 67 years to Roscoe Strickland passed away Monday December 31, 2007. Born December 18, 1914 in Horry County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hamp and Mantha Jane Buffkin, and a life long member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Nina's life was devoted to her family, her church, and her flower garden. God looked around his garden and he found an empty place. He then looked down upon this earth, and saw her tired face. He put His arms around her and lifted her to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always liked the best. He knew that she was suffering, He knew she was in pain. He knew that she would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. So He closed her weary pretty blue eyes and whispered, "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose her and her precious smile, But she didn't go alone, for part of us went with her the day God called her home to His garden. Surviving are her loving husband, Roscoe, of the home, daughters, Judy and husband Harold Causey of Lake Murray, SC; Debbie and her husband John Cheatham of Edgefield SC, Grandchildren, Michael Causey and his wife Jana of Simpsonville, SC; Mark Causey of Irmo SC; Wes and his wife Lindsey, Trish, and Drew Cheatham of Edgefield SC; Great - grandsons. Gaven and Grayson Causey of Simpsonville SC; sisters, Olivia (Dixie), and Ginny of Florida and brother, Sam of Virginia. Nina was predeceased by sisters, Verona Mae, Vennie, Dottie, Tine, Flossie, Mary and Brothers, Witt, Roscoe, Lloyd and Ed. Funeral services will be at 11 Am Thursday January 3, 2008 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Mitchell Barnhill will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Nichols SC. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
