Owen Hammond, 91 of Fair Bluff died Monday November 12, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Hammond was born in Columbus County, a son of the late Joseph and Esther Jenkins Hammond. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and a retired farmer. Mr. Hammond was a lifelong member of Hinson’s Crossroads Baptist Church, were he had served as a deacon. Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by his wife, Dorcas Thompson Hammond; 2 brothers, Gordon and Fred Hammond; and 3 sisters, Mollie Whitehead, Gladys Blackwell, Venie Hinson.

Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Thursday November 15, 2012 at Meares Cemetery, Rev. Eric Truesdale will officiate.

Surviving are 2 sons, Roger Hammond and his wife Rosa of Fair Bluff, Mark Hammond and his wife Sara of Concord; 3 grandchildren, Staci Powers, Greg Hammond, Jeff Hammond and 3 great grandchildren, Zac, Bradley and Annalee.

The family will receive friends at the home of Roger Hammond, 203 Hammond Drive Fair Bluff.
