Ralph Herring, Sr., age 98 formerly of Chadbourn died on Sunday, December 13, 2015.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM in Porter Swamp Baptist Church.  Rev’s Anthony Clemmons and Tim Moore, officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Herring was a lifetime member of Porter Swamp Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years: Ruth Herring; his father and mother: Carden and Grace Lovette Herring; one son: Ralph Herring, Jr.; two brothers: JC and Howard Herring; two sisters: Grace Herring Clark and Mae Herring Gray.

Mr. Herring is survived by two daughters: Edith Herring Britt of Holden Beach and Margaret Herring Perritt and husband Geston of Nichols, SC; one brother: Gary Herring and his wife Rose of Elizabethtown, NC; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home of the granddaughter: Angela Melvin, 3331 Haynes Lennon Road, Chadbourn, NC.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Meares Funeral Home in Fair Bluff.
