Russell H. Smith, 68 of Lumberton died Monday at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Smith was born in Columbus County a son of the late, John J. and Lollie Virginia Edwards Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Dottie Robertson, Mary Ward, Grace Moser and 4 brothers, J.W. Smith, Lloyd Dallas Smith, Dewey Eric Smith and J.B. Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 7, 2014 at Meares Funeral Home, Fair Bluff,  Rev. Tim Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in the Porter Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Smith is survived by a brother, Gayle Smith of Cerro Gordo; 3 sisters, Marilyn Barnhill of Sumter SC, Edith Matthews of Las Vegas NV, Linda Tole of Oregon.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 until 9 PM at the funeral home.
