Saundra Ford Meares

Saundra Ford Meares, age 80, died Monday, April 29, 2019 in Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville, NC.

She was born in Marion County, SC. on April 10, 1939 to the late John Admiral and Madge Campbell Ford.

Mrs. Meares was a member of Hinson's Crossroads Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons: John C. Meares of Greensboro, NC., Slade Meares of Nikolaev, Ukraine; and a sister Bobbie Jean Clark. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Shelton Leopoldo Meares, Teresa Lynn Herring, Hayden Meares and one great-grandchild, Kian Roan Herring.

Saundra was predeceased by her husband, Shelton Clayton Meares; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Hinson's Crossroards Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Glenn Stanley to officiate. Interment will be in the Hammond Cemetery located on Otto Nance Rd, Cerro Gordo, NC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cerro Gordo Fire and Rescue Department, 75 Railroad St. East, Cerro Gordo, NC. 28430 or to the Autism Society of NC., 705 South Kerr Ave., Wilmington, NC. 28403.
