Thelma Richardson

Thelma Richardson, age 89, went to be with the Lord on January, 28, 2026 in Raleigh, NC, where she had been residing with her son and daughter-in-law.

She was born in Columbus County, NC on July 21,1936 to the late Velton Strickland and the late Ruth Edwards Strickland. Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Richardson, and a great-grandson, Camren Wade Hansen.

She is survived by her son, Charles Lindsey Richardson (Darlene) of Raleigh, NC; sister, Alice Lois Strickland (R.C.), of Matthews, NC; and two nephews. Also surviving are her extended family; step-grandson, Scott Hansen (Kelly); step-granddaughter, Kelly Rose, one step-great-grandson, Ethan Hansen; and three step-great-granddaughters; Ashlyn, Marie, and Scarlett.

Thelma dedicated many years of service to the Columbus County School System, retiring in July 2012. She found great joy in working with children and made a lasting impact on those she taught and mentored. She loved watching her game shows on TV and if wasn't reading her Bible, she was doing word search books.

A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Cherry Grove Baptist Church cemetery, Cerro Gordo, NC.
