Mr. Walter Robert Haynes, Sr., 87, of Fair Bluff died Tuesday October 10, 2017 in the Wesley Pines Retirement Center in Lumberton.

He was born in Lumberton, NC on December 4, 1929, a son to the late Walter Merton Haynes and Betty Britt.

Mr. Haynes was a retired construction superintendent.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 pm on Friday October 13, 2017 at the Powell Cemetery in Fair Bluff with the Rev. Neill Smith and Jim Owen officiating.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Whittington Haynes; a son, Howard L. Haynes; and a sister, Marie Kanipe.

Survived by three sons and their wives, Walter R. Haynes, Jr. and Linda, of Fairmont, Tommy Haynes and Connie of Troy, NC, and Kim Haynes and Ann of Burlington, NC; a daughter, Ada H. Edwards of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Eric, David, Misty, Casey, Joey, and Brett; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Eric, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Thursday October 12, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Meares Funeral Home.
